Paul Tremmel

Paul Tremmel (born September 30, 1929 in Theisbergstegen ) is a Palatinate dialect poet . Until 2016 he lived in the Rhineland-Palatinate wine-growing community of Forst an der Weinstrasse , then he moved to the neighboring town of Deidesheim .

Life

Tremmel was born in the West Palatinate and spent most of his life in the Front Palatinate . There the trained auto mechanic worked his way up to the boss of a car dealership before starting his career as a Palatinate dialect poet in 1971. In 1972 and 1973 he was one of the winners of the Palatinate Dialect Poet Competition in Bockenheim .

Since 1983 he has appeared regularly on radio and television programs. The popular nature of his subjects, which he mostly presents in poetry (e.g. for five years in the newspaper Sonntag Aktuell under the heading En Reim druff ), is combined with quick-wittedness and witty humor. He has published more than three dozen books - mostly self-published - almost exclusively on the Palatinate dialect . From 1996 to December 2015, Tremmel's weekly column could be heard every Friday on SWR4 – Kurpfalzradio . In 2005 he was tower clerk for the Limburgerhof community .

Tremmel's popularity brought not only prizes and awards, but also a survey as an expert when a court in Frankenthal had to clarify the question of whether the title "Dabbschädel" should be considered an insult in the Palatinate .
