Paul Tremmel (politician)

Paul Tremmel (born July 27, 1940 in Sankt Lorenzen im Paltental ; † July 13, 2015 ) was an Austrian politician ( BZÖ / FPÖ ) and magistrate official. He was a member of the Federal Council from 1993 to 1999 and vice-mayor of Graz from 1986 to 1988 .

education and profession

Tremmel attended elementary school in St. Lorenzen bei Trieben between 1947 and 1951 and then graduated from the Bundesrealgymnasium in Judenburg from 1951 to 1959 . After graduating from high school in 1959, Tremmel began studying law at the University of Graz in 1959 , where he received his doctorate in law (Dr. iur.) In 1967 in Graz . He completed his legal practice from 1965 to 1967 in Hartberg and Graz. After completing his studies, he did his military service as a one-year volunteer between 1967 and 1968 .

Tremmel entered the service of the Graz City Administration in 1969, where he was hired as a civil servant. In 1988 he was promoted to head of Magistrate Department 18, the Office of Statistics, Elections and Population, and was subsequently appointed to the Senate Council. Furthermore, from 1971 to 1986 he was part-time director of the Friedrich Schiller Home in Graz.

Politics and functions

Tremmel was elected a member of the municipal council of the provincial capital Graz in 1978 and was also the third deputy mayor of Graz from 1986 to 1988. He then resigned from the Graz municipal council in 1988 as a councilor. Within the party, he was active as the city party chairman of the FPÖ Graz from 1985 to 1988 and belonged to the state party leadership of the FPÖ Styria. He was also active in the FPÖ as a member of the federal party leadership. He represented the FPÖ Styria between May 1, 1993 and November 15, 1999 in the Federal Council, and between June 8, 1993 and December 13, 1996 he held the function of a folder. After his active political career, Tremmel moved to Bündnis Zukunft Österreich (BZÖ), where he ran for the BZÖ in the Graz municipal council elections in 2012 , albeit in an unelected position.

Private

Paul Tremmel was married to Traude Tremmel. His wife ran for the 2012 municipal council election in Graz on the 4th place in the BZÖ list.
