Paul Uschdraweit

Paul Uschdraweit (born December 1, 1891 in Groß Schorellen near Pillkallen ; † March 5, 1966 in Blomberg / Lippe ) was a German district administrator .

Life

Uschdraweit took part in the First World War as a lieutenant in the reserve . From 1919 to 1923 he was a member of the German National People's Party DNVP and a member of the Stahlhelm, Bund der Frontsoldaten from 1925 to 1931. He joined the NSDAP on December 1, 1931 ( membership number 893.655).

In 1936 he was appointed provisional district administrator in the Pillkallen district and was in office until 1937. In 1937 he became district administrator in the Darkehmen district (renamed the Angerapp district in 1938), where he held office until the end of the Second World War.

In 1939 he was employed as land commissioner in Pułtusk (Eng. Pultusk , 1941–1944 Ostenburg ), the future district of Ostenburg , in the administrative district of Zichenau annexed by Poland .

Heinz Schön , Wilhelm Gustloff survivor and specialist writer who was part of the crew as a paymaster candidate, reports that he met District Administrator Uschdraweit from Angerapp on board the evening before the sinking of the ship and had a long conversation with him. Although Uschdraweit was not listed on any of the lists of survivors given by Schön after the sinking of the "Wilhelm Gustloff", he still survived the sinking. After the war he lived in Lippe , where he died on March 5, 1966 in Blomberg after a long suffering .
