Paul Warncke

Paul Warncke (born May 13, 1866 in Lübz , † April 25, 1933 in Neubabelsberg ) was a German sculptor and writer.

Life

Paul Warncke completed an apprenticeship as a bookseller and from 1893 to 1896 attended the Academic University of Fine Arts in Berlin with Gerhard Janensch . From 1892 he exhibited several times at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition. The less successful work as a sculptor ended around 1909, Warncke now devoted himself exclusively to writing: essays, patriotic poems ("Bismarcklied" 1895), festivals for the Schauspielhaus Berlin a. Ä. From 1909 he was also editor of the " Kladderadatsch " and employee of the magazine f. Visual arts. In 1914 he wrote the verses for the " Hechtbrunnen " in Teterow by Wilhelm Wandschneider , with whom he was friends. Warncke was also active as a Low German writer and in 1899 published the Fritz Reuter biography "Fritz Reuter Woans hei lewt un schrewen hett". He was married to Hedwig, née Grösser.
