The Fritz Reuter Literature Archive (FRLA) in Berlin collects and indexes autographs and literature by Mecklenburg authors of the 19th century.

General

The collection activities are primarily aimed at Fritz Reuter , who writes in Low German, and Ida Hahn-Hahn, who writes in High German . In the 19th century, the two novelists were among the most widely read authors with Mecklenburg roots in the German-speaking world and far beyond. Another focus of the collection is Friedrich Griese from Mecklenburg, who belongs to the 20th century .

The Fritz Reuter Literature Archive was created in the early 1970s from a private initiative and literary interest in Fritz Reuter (1810–1874). The founder and owner is the journalist and former publisher Hans-Joachim Griephan from Mecklenburg . The archive sees itself primarily as a collection and documentation center on Fritz Reuter, his time and his contemporaries. This also includes authors who have influenced Fritz Reuter literarily, see themselves literarily in the tradition of Fritz Reuter, who dealt with Fritz Reuter and his time or who have spoken about Fritz Reuter and his work.

With its holdings and literary information, the FRLA would like to promote the preoccupation with Fritz Reuter, his life and his impact and in particular to support scientific research. The FRLA sees itself as a complement to the other institutions of the Reuter reception: Fritz Reuter Society eV Neubrandenburg, Fritz Reuter Literature Museum Stavenhagen, Reuter Wagner Museum Eisenach.

The FRLA's holdings include important autograph holdings, preferably of Mecklenburg origin. In addition, the FRLA's holdings on Fritz Reuter and Ida Hahn-Hahn include: works (complete editions, partial collections, translations into foreign languages), works on life, work and effect, images and views, related literature, bundles as well as newspaper and magazine articles. Because they are stored outside, important stocks are only available for inspection with a delay of 24–48 hours.

The FRLA's manuscript holdings include albums, album leaves, dedications and drawings (by Fritz Reuters), letters and cards, manuscripts and documents, as well as documents and files.
