Hans Stubenrauch (born April 11, 1875 in Aschau im Chiemgau ; † July 1, 1941 Murnau am Staffelsee ) was a German painter , watercolorist and writer. He created portraits, historical representations and was an illustrator , among other things for books.

Life

Stubenrauch studied at the Nuremberg School of Applied Arts with Heinrich Heim and the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Nikolaus Gysis , Peter Halm and Heinrich von Zügel .

He was best known as a painter and illustrator and drew illustrations for the magazines Jugend , the Meggendorfer-Blätter and the Fliegende Blätter . He worked as a book illustrator (including “Die Saxo-Saxonen” by Samar Gregorow ) and published several children's books. The “Moos-Berg-Spuk”, a homeland book, also brought out books, not just children's books. He also published articles in the local history yearbooks of the Lech-Isar-Land local association.

From 1911 onwards, Hans Stubenrauch had closer ties to Murnau and had lived there since 1919. During the procession for the 600th anniversary of the Murnau market in 1935, he planned the depictions from history and drew the designs. Some of his paintings are in the Murnau Castle Museum and in the Murnau Town Hall.

He died at the age of 66 and was buried in Munich.

He was married to Anna née Schmidt (* 1864 in Kassel ; † 1942 in Munich ).
