Loretta Devine
Loretta Devine (born August 21, 1949 in Houston , Texas ) is an American actress .
Life
Before Loretta Devine in 1981 her acting debut in the Broadway - Musical Dreamgirls was, she studied communications and theater at the University of Houston and then theater studies at Brandeis University .
Devine mainly plays smaller roles in cinema and television films or in television series. One of her best-known appearances is the television series Boston Public , in which she played a pathologically overworked teacher. For this series she has received the Image Award three times . But when the series was canceled after the fourth season, its success also waned.
In 2011, Devine received an Emmy for her recurring role as doctor-wife and Alzheimer's patient Adele Webber on the television series Grey's Anatomy . Her character died a serial death in 2013. In 2012 and 2013, she starred in The Client List alongside Jennifer Love Hewitt . However, the series was canceled after the 2nd season.
