Paul Zieger

Paul Zieger (born August 1, 1851 in Dresden , † January 22, 1921 in Döbeln ) was a German ear doctor, medical and city councilor.

Life

Paul Zieger was the youngest son of the inspector at the customs and tax depot (customs border guard inspector) Hermann Zieger and Julie Marie born. Geudtner from Freiberg .

Paul Zieger attended the 2nd citizens' school of the Fletcher seminar until Michaelis 1862 and then the Kreuzgymnasium in Dresden until Easter 1871 .

After completing his military service as a one-year volunteer , he studied human medicine at the University of Leipzig for 5 years . He received his license to practice medicine on March 23, 1876 “for the territory of the German Empire” and in 1876 he was one of the first ear specialists in Saxony to settle in the town of Döbeln , of which he had been a citizen since July 17, 1879.

He married Maria Therese Thomas from Leipzig in 1876 .

Act

For years he studied throughout Amtshauptmannschaft union district Döbeln all school children free of charge on ear diseases.

In 1892 he became a city ​​councilor .

In 1894 he was elected to the city council, he was also chairman of the theater committee.

In 1895 he donated an amount to the city of Freiberg to support “needy and spirited” pupils at the (then) Petri School.

In 1899 he established a foundation for book premiums for schoolchildren for the residents of the (then) Hamann Foundation (Dr. med. Paul Zieger Foundation).

In 1902 he was a member of the "Honorary Council and Examination Committee of Inval.-Vers. Casse u. Wittwen- u. Orphan's Casse ".

On May 25, 1911, he was given by Sr. Majesty to King Friedrich August III. (Saxony) appointed to the medical council.

He died in his apartment on January 22nd, 1921.

Honors

With the resolution of the city council meeting 473/24/92 from 1992, Paul Zieger became an honorary citizen of the city of Döbeln.

As early as April 1921, the Wiesenstrasse, which leads off the Strasse des Friedens (near Ostbahnhof), was opened in his honor in Dr. Renamed Zieger-Strasse.
