Paulina Ołowska (* 1976 in Gdansk , Poland ) is a Polish painter and versatile artist . In 2014 she received the Aachen Art Prize .

Life

After finishing school, Ołowska studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago , and at the Academy of Arts in Gdansk. Paulina Ołowska lives and works in Mszana Dolna , Poland. As part of group exhibitions, her works have been shown at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw , the Goetz Collection , Munich, the Carnegie Museum of Art , Pittsburgh, and the Museum Folkwang , Essen, among others . Since 2009 her work can also be seen in solo exhibitions in well-known art halls.

Paulina Ołowska's works include paintings, drawings, collages, performances, installations and videos. In her work she refers to the history of art and design as well as architecture, interior design, traditional Polish handicrafts, puppet shows, functional backdrops, fashion and advertising. She created portraits of important women from the arts and literature such as Virginia Woolf , Vanessa Bell , Charlotte Perriand , Nina Hamnett and Peggy Moffitt .
