From the beginning, the care of old and sick people was the focus of the work of the monastery. In 1896 the Deaconess Mother House was built. The monastery was renamed in 1974 and has been called Diakoniegemeinschaft Paulinenstift ever since .

In 2003 the Paulinenstift merged with the Evangelical Monastery of St. Martin in Koblenz and the Health Center for the Holy Spirit in Boppard to form the “Stiftungsklinikum Mittelrhein”. The clinic network was expanded in 2014 to include the Kemperhof in Koblenz and the St. Elisabeth Hospital in Mayen . The new and larger clinic network is called the Mittelrhein Community Clinic .
