Paulo Ferreira [ ˈpaulu fɯˈʁɐiɾɐ ] (born  January 18, 1979 in Cascais ; actually Paulo Renato Rebocho Ferreira ) is a former Portuguese football player . After nine years at Chelsea , he ended his career in the summer of 2013.

Career

Paulo Ferreira comes from the youth of GD Estoril Praia , where he is also used in the first team. In 2000 the right- back moved to Vitória Setúbal and from there in 2002 to FC Porto . There he won the World Cup , the Champions League and the Portuguese championship in 2004 . He has played for Chelsea since the 2004/2005 season and became English champions in 2005, 2006 and 2010. After Deco signed up , Paulo Ferreira agreed to swap numbers from 20 to 19 so that Deco can wear his 20, which he already wore in Seleção and FC Barcelona , at Chelsea. He played his last game on May 19, 2013, when he was substituted on in the 88th minute. Following the game, he announced the end of his career.

Ferreira was appointed to the Portuguese national team for the first time in 2002. With the national team , he took part in the 2004 European Championship in his own country, the 2008 European Championship , the 2006 World Championship and the 2010 World Championship . After 61 games, he declared on August 31, 2010 that he no longer wanted to play for the national team.
