Paulinho , real name Paulo Menezes (born July 14, 1982 in Brazil ) is a Brazilian soccer player who mainly plays soccer in Switzerland . He is currently under contract with FC Schaffhausen .

Career

Paulinho started his career with Fluminense in Brazil , in 1998 he came to Switzerland with his newly married mother and played there first with the juniors of FC Würenlingen. From 2003 to 2009 he played as a midfielder at FC Aarau in the Super League . Initially committed as a striker by coach Alain Geiger , he was later also used as a midfielder and most recently as a right-back. During the summer break of 2009 he moved to the Grasshopper Club Zurich , where he continued to work as a full-back. In 2011 he was third in the championship with the city of Zurich and made two appearances in the 2011 Europa League qualification, which he would later call his career highlight. In 2012, however, he no longer received a contract in Zurich and subsequently played for FC Lugano .

After half a year in Ticino , he moved back to Brazil for half a year in order to be closer to his family, who are now living in Brazil again. There he was not happy with his involvement in the second team of Botafogo FR in the third-highest Brazilian league. As a result, he returned to Switzerland in autumn 2014 and was signed by FC Winterthur during the winter break , where he kept fit after his return. He then played for Winterthur until summer 2015.

After the end of his contract, Paulinho wanted to move to the then Promotion League club Servette Geneva . Since the club only played in the third-highest league for this, the federal government vetoed it and the soccer player was expelled from Switzerland after 17 years. Although he had a three-year-old son with his Swiss girlfriend, he had to leave the country in autumn. In the winter, when he was signed by FC Schaffhausen , he was able to return to Switzerland and still plays for the Munotstadt team.
