Pavel Aron

Pavel Aron (born October 26, 1928 in Albeşti , Mureş County ) is a former Romanian politician of the Romanian Communist Party (PCR), who was Minister of Transport and Telecommunications between 1986 and 1989.

Life

Pavel Aron attended from 1943 to 1947 the vocational school of the railway company CFR ( Căile Ferate Române ) in Brașov and in 1947 became a member of the Romanian Communist Party PCR (Partidul Comunist Român) . He then graduated from the workers' faculty in Brăila from 1947 to 1949 and then from 1949 to 1956 studied at the Institute for Railways in Bucharest . After graduating, he was successively an engineer from 1956 to March 1962, then head of the Sighișoara station and finally head of the Brașov marshalling yard . Between March 1962 and February 1968 he was an instructor in the Economic Commission of the Regional Party Committee in the Brașov District and then from February 1968 to 1971 Economic Secretary in the City Party Committee of Brașov. In the meantime, he completed postgraduate studies at the Academy for Social and Political Sciences (Academia de Stiinte Sociale si Politice) " Ștefan Gheorghiu " and obtained a doctorate there.

In 1971 Aron became first secretary of the party committee in the Arad district and at the same time president of the executive committee of the people's council of this district and held these functions until June 5, 1979. From June 5, 1979 to July 11, 1986 he was secretary of the party committee in Arad district as well as president of the executive committee of the people's council of this district. At the twelfth party congress of the PCR (November 19-23, 1979) he became a candidate for the Central Committee (ZK) of the PCR and held this position until the collapse of communism in the wake of the revolution on December 22, 1989 . In 1980 he also became a member of the Grand National Assembly (Marea Adunare Națională) and only represented constituency no. 8 Lipova until 1985 and then from 1985 to 1989 the constituency of Arad .

On August 9, 1986, Pavel Aron was appointed Minister for Transport and Telecommunications (Ministrul transporturilor și telecomunicațiilor) to succeed Vasile Bulucea in the Dăscălescu II cabinet and held this office until the fall of the neo-Stalinist dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu on December 22, 1989. He was also Vice President of the Council for the Coordination of Transport and Telecommunications Activities. For his services he received the Order of Labor Third Class (Ordinul Muncii) .
