Paweł Tadeusz Howard Abbott (born May 5, 1982 in York , England ) is a former Polish football player . In addition to the Polish passport, he also has British citizenship.

Club career

In his youth Abbott played for the English club Beagle Boys York and in Poland for Kujawiak Włocławek , Włocłavia Włocławek and Łokietek Brześć Kujawski . In 1999 he signed his first professional contract with the Polish first division club Łódzki KS . However, he only made 8 appearances in two seasons in the Polish Ekstraklasa and moved to England for the second division Preston North End . Here, however, he could not convince and was loaned to the English fourth division club FC Bury . Abbott scored five goals in 13 league games for Bury. After the season he briefly returned to Preston North End to be loaned straight back to Bury. From 2003 to 2004 Paweł Abbott played again for Preston North End. In total, Abbott made 25 appearances and five goals for Preston.

His most successful time was from 2004 to 2007 at Huddersfield Town . With Huddersfield he rose to League One and always played in this for promotion. Abbott scored 48 goals for Huddersfield Town in 113 games. In 2007 Abbott moved to the English second division for Swansea City for £ 150,000 . However, he only scored one goal in 18 league games and was given up to fourth division FC Darlington six months later for £ 100,000 . In League Two he found his old form again. For the 2009/2010 season Abbott moved to Oldham Athletic in League One. In 39 league games he scored 13 goals for Oldham. For the 2010/2011 season he signed a contract with league rivals Charlton Athletic . At the end of February 2011 he moved to Ruch Chorzów in the Ekstraklasa , with whom he became Polish Vice-Champion in 2012, then to Zawisza Bydgoszcz in 2012 . With 15 goals in 27 games Abbott played a decisive role in the promotion to the Ekstraklasa after the end of the 2012/2013 season. In the following season he was only a reserve player and was only used in 4 games. However, he surprisingly won the 2014 Polish Cup with Zawisza Bydgoszcz . For the 2014/2015 season he moved to the second division Arka Gdynia . Here he won the trophy again in 2017 and then moved to OKS Stomil Olsztyn , where he ended his career a year later.
