Pavel Ossipowitsch Gukassow
Pavel Osipovich Gukassow ( Russian Павел Осипович Гукасов * January 22 . Jul / 3. February 1858 greg. As Poghos Ghukassjan ( Armenian Պողոս Ղուկասյան ) in Shusha in Nagorno-Karabakh in the former province Jelisawetpol ; † 22. December 1937 in Paris ) was an Armenian - Russian engineer and businessman .
Life
Gukassow studied at the Technical University of Dresden with a degree in 1878 and was then managing director of the operating facilities of the oil company Caspian Society in Baku . In 1887 he was involved in the transformation of the company into a stock corporation . He became director and in 1889 chairman of the board . He also studied at the Moscow Commercial Academy, graduating in 1893.
Gukassow, together with his brothers Abram and arshak, ran the business of the oil companies Caspian Pipeline and Electric Power in Baku among others, so that they dominated the oil business as monopolists . Gukassow was the chairman of the Council of Meetings of Representatives of Baku Oil Companies (1890-1906, 1915-1917). He was honorary peace judge in Baku and chairman of the board of trustees of the Baku Business School. 1906–1912 he was a member of the State Council (category trade and industry). For foreign investors, the Gukassow brothers and others founded the international holding company Russische Generalerdöl-Compagnie in 1912 . In 1916 Gukassow became chairman of the board of the Russian Bank for Commerce and Industry. He was the managing director of the Anglo- Russian Maximov Society and the Russian Electricity Company Dynamo .
Gussakow emigrated after the October Revolution . He was married to Yevgenia Samuilovna, with whom he had two daughters. He was buried in the Père Lachaise cemetery.
