Pearl van der Wissel (born April 14, 1984 in Leiden , Netherlands ) is a former Dutch handball player .

Athletic career

Pearl van der Wissel played at UDSV, Aalsmeer, Orient, VOC Amsterdam and Omni sportverenigung Hellas in her home country. After the backcourt player won the championship with Hellas in 2002, she moved to the Danish first division club GOG Svendborg TGI . In 2005 she won the Danish Cup with GOG. After a total of seven years at GOG, she moved to the French club Toulon Saint-Cyr Var Handball , with which she won the championship in 2010. After only one season, she moved on to the German Bundesliga club Thuringian HC . With the THC she won the German Championship and the DHB Cup in 2011 . In the summer of 2011 she joined the Danish first division club SK Aarhus. In January 2012 van der Wissel moved to HC Odense . After the 2014/15 season, she ended her career. In September 2015 van der Wissel returned to the HC Odense squad to replace Nadia Offendal , who had a knee injury . After the 2017/18 season, she finally ended her career.

She played 217 caps for the Dutch national team, scoring 560 goals. With the Dutch selection, she finished fifth at the 2005 World Cup in Russia. In addition, she was elected to the all-star team at the World Cup. She also won the bronze medal at the 2017 World Cup .
