The spherical, pressed growing Pediocactus paradinei becomes 2 cm to 6 cm long and in diameter. The characteristic, variable hair-like spines of the central spines are unique.

The yellow bell-shaped flowers are 1.5 cm long and in diameter. The flower color is rarely pink.

In some specimens the typical thorns are not pronounced, so that it can easily be confused with the closely related Pediocactus simpsonii or Escobaria vivipara . Geophytic features as well as other representatives of the Pediocactus section ( Pediocactus knowltonii ) and the Rhytidospermae section ( Pediocactus bradyi and subspecies) become clear. Pediocactus paradinei is hardy to minus 20 ° C when dry. Real-root cultivation in Europe is possible.
