Peggy Michel

Margaret "Peggy" Michel (born February 2, 1949 in Santa Monica , California ) is a former American tennis player .

Career

Peggy Michel won three Grand Slam competitions in women's doubles in her career, which lasted from 1960 to 1977 . She won all titles together with the former Australian world number one Evonne Goolagong . At the Australian Open 1974, the doubles pair defeated Kerry Harris and Kerry Melville in the final in straight sets 7: 5, 6: 3. They were able to repeat the tournament success in the following year against Margaret Court and Olga Morosowa . Michel and Goolagong celebrated their third triumph in 1974 at the Wimbledon Championships . They defeated Helen Gourlay and Karen Krantzcke 2: 6, 6: 4, 6: 3.

Since the end of her career, she has been collecting sponsorship money for a tennis tournament, today's WTA Indian Wells and Indian Wells Masters .
