Karen Krantzcke (born February 1, 1947 in Brisbane , † April 11, 1977 in Tallahassee , Florida) was an Australian tennis player .

Career

In 1968 , she and her compatriot Kerry Melville won the women's doubles at the Australian tennis championships (now the Australian Open ). They defeated Judy Tegart and Lesley Turner in three sets.

From 1966 to 1970 Krantzcke played a total of twelve games for the Australian Federation Cup team with a positive balance of 4: 1 in singles; in doubles she won all of her seven appearances. In 1970 she won the Federation Cup.

The Karen Krantzcke Sportsmanship Award given by the WTA is named after her.

Karen Krantzcke died in 1977 at the age of 30 while jogging.
