The Pegtymel ( Russian Пегтыме́ль ) is a river in the Chukchi Autonomous Okrug in northeast Siberia .
It rises in the Paljawaam Mountains ( Паляваамском хребѐт ), which is part of the Chukotka highlands . From there the Pegtymel flows towards west-northwest and cuts through the Pegtymel Mountains ( Пегтымельский хребѐт ). The river then turns to the northwest. It takes in its main tributary Kuwet from the right. After 345 km the Pegtymel reaches the East Siberian Sea . The Pegtymel drains an area of 17,600 km².
