Vegetative characteristics

The branched and fleshy stems have a diameter of 3 to 6 millimeters and permanent stipules . The long and stalked leaves are mainly located in the upper part of the stem. The heart-shaped to hand-shaped divided, downy hairy blade has a serrated leaf margin.

The unbranched inflorescence contains 5 to 15 flowers. The hermaphrodite flowers are zygomorphic and five-fold with a double flower envelope . Of the five bright purple-red petals , the top two are edged, have a crimson veining, and the top two are much larger than the bottom three. There are seven fertile stamens . The more or less 1 centimeter long stamens are carmine-red and curved upwards. The pollen is orange in color.

Chromosome number

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 34.

Occurrence

The distribution area of Pelargonium endlicherianum is in Turkey .

Systematics

It was first described as Pelargonium endlicherianum in 1842 by Eduard Fenzl . A synonym for Pelargonium endlicherianum Fenzl is Geraniospermum endlicherianum (Fenzl) Kuntze .

Belonging to the section Jenkinsonia (Sweet) DC. is doubted. Due to the isolated occurrence in Asia Minor and karyological data, it is assumed that this species forms its own section together with Pelargonium quercetorum .
