Pelargonium sounding hard tense belonging to the genus Pelargonium within the family of geraniaceae (Geraniaceae).
description
Vegetative characteristics
The species grows with a thick, succulent, glaucoma-green to yellowish green and branched trunk and reaches heights of up to 60 centimeters. The succulent and sloping leaves are colored glaucous light green and merge into the stem at their base. The blade is obovate-spatulate.
Generative characteristics
The inflorescence is branched into several partial inflorescences . These each have 2 to 4 individual flowers. The five petals are only a little longer than the sepals . They are white and have no markings. The upper two petals are spatulate with short nails and suddenly bent back by more than 90 ° from their base. The lower three petals are narrowly obovate or spatulate with short nails and bent back less than 90 ° from their base. There are five fertile stamens of different lengths . The pollen is colored orange.
Occurrence
Pelargonium klinghardtense comes from southern Namibia and the South African province of Northern Cape .
Taxonomy
It was first described in 1922 by Reinhard Gustav Paul Knuth . Synonyms are Pelargonium paradoxum Dinter (1923) and Pelargonium jacobii R.A. Dyer (1954).
It belongs to the Otidia (Lindl.) Harv section. It is rated “Least Concern” in the Red List of Endangered Plant Species in South Africa.
