Penstemon davidsonii is a species of beard thread ( Penstemon ) within the plantain family (Plantaginaceae). It is common in western North America .

Vegetative characteristics
Penstemon davidsonii is a perennial evergreen subshrub that reaches heights of up to 10 centimeters. The bush-like shoots form flat mats with upright flowering shoots. The leaves are about 1.5 inches long, elliptical to almost round, hairless, green and quite thick; only a few and smaller stem leaves.
Generative characteristics
Compact, little-flowered, one-sided and glandular inflorescence. The bluish petals are fused tubular.
Chromosome number
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 16.
distribution
Penstemon davidsonii occurs in western North America from southern British Columbia via Washington , Oregon and northern Nevada to California .
Taxonomy
The first description of Penstemon davidsonii was in 1892 by Edward Lee Greene in Pittonia, Volume 2, page 241. The specific epithet davidsonii honors George Davidson .
