Per-Olov Brasar (born September 30, 1950 in Falun ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player who played for the Minnesota North Stars and Vancouver Canucks in the National Hockey League from 1969 to 1984 .
Career
Per-Olov Brasar began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of Leksands IF , for whose professional team he was active in the top Swedish league from 1969 to 1977 - initially in Division 1 and from the 1975/76 season in its successor league, Elitserien . In 1973, 1974 and 1975 he was Swedish champion with Leksands IF . In the 1976/77 season he was also elected to the Swedish All-Star Team and he received the Rinkens Riddare trophy as the fairest player in the Elitserien. Then the winger received a contract as a free agent with the Minnesota North Stars , for which he was active in the National Hockey League for the next two and a half years , before he was on December 10, 1979 in exchange for a second round vote for the NHL Entry Draft 1981 within the NHL was given to the Vancouver Canucks . With the Canadians he was also a regular player in the following two and a half years and he was able to convince especially in the 1980/81 season , in which he scored 63 points in a total of 83 games, including 22 goals. After his return to Sweden he played from 1981 to 1983 for one season each for Leksands IF in the Elitserien and the Mora IK in the now second-class Division 1. He then ended his career at the age of 32.
International
For Sweden , Brasar took part in the World Championships in 1974 , 1975 , 1976 , 1977 and 1978 and in 1976 in the Canada Cup . At world championships he won three bronze medals and one silver medal with his country.
