Joachim Kügler

Joachim Kügler (born June 12, 1958 in Weismain , Upper Franconia ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian and clergyman .

Life

Kügler studied Roman Catholic theology from 1977 to 1983 at the Otto Friedrich University of Bamberg and at the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg . After completing his diploma studies, he went on to study for a doctorate with Paul Hoffmann (University of Bamberg). The doctorate (Dr. theol.) In New Testament Sciences took place in 1987. In June 1988 Kügler was ordained a Catholic priest of the Archdiocese of Bamberg . From September 1988 to August 1992 he worked as a chaplain in Erlangen (parishes Herz Jesu and Sankt Bonifaz). After his exemption for further qualification, he completed his habilitation with Helmut Merklein (University of Bonn) and at the same time worked as a student pastor (half position) at the Cusanuswerk Episcopal Student Fund. From 1999 to 2008 Kügler was university professor for Catholic theology at the University of Bayreuth . Kügler has held the Chair of New Testament Studies at the University of Bamberg since October 2008.
