Ernst Ludwig Grasmück
Ernst Ludwig Grasmück (born January 18, 1933 in Mülheim-Kärlich ; † November 23, 2017 ) was a German Roman Catholic church historian .
Life
Ernst Ludwig Grasmück studied medicine from 1952 to 1954 and from 1954 to 1960 theology, philosophy , German literature and history. He was ordained a priest in 1964. After working as a chaplain in Düsseldorf , he was a research assistant at the Chair for Church History and Patristics at the Ruhr University in Bochum from 1968 to 1974 . From 1974 to 1976 he carried out research on the subject of exile in antiquity for the Görres Society . In 1980 he was appointed to the chair for church history at the Hochschule / Universität Osnabrück-Vechta , in 1981 he was appointed to the chair for church history and patristics at the Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg , which he held until 1998. He was a member of the Görres Society.
Grasmück published numerous articles on a scientific spectrum that extends far beyond the history of the ancient church and includes, for example, problems of pastoral care in the high Middle Ages, basic questions of the confessional age and questions of the understanding of the church in the present; including Cura animarum. On the practice of pastoral care in the time of Bishop Otto von Bamberg (1989), Emperor Julian and the theos logos of Christians (1993), The so-called Constantinian Turn (2000) or The theos logos as the justification for the rule of the emperors Constantine and Julian (2007 ).
At Grasmück's chair in Bamberg worked a. a. Ulrike Bechmann and Rainer Bucher .
