Franz Machilek

Franz Machilek (born January 9, 1934 in Hustopeče , Czechoslovakia ) is a German historian .

Life

After graduating from high school in Augsburg in 1953, he studied philosophy, theology, German studies, history and historical auxiliary sciences at the Philosophical University of St. Stephan (Augsburg) , the PTH Dillingen and the University of Munich from 1953 to 1963 (1955: Philosophicum, Augsburg 1st state examination ( for teaching), Munich, 1966 2nd state examination (for the higher archives service), Munich; doctorate , 1963 University of Munich).

From 1959 to 1963 he was the administrator of a research assistant at the Department of History at the University of Munich. From 1963 to 1964 he was an assistant at the Corpus Consuetudinum Monasticarum. From 1964 to 1966 he attended the archive school in Munich. From 1966 to 1968 he was a clerk at the Bavarian Main State Archives in Munich . From 1968 to 1981 he was a clerk at the Nuremberg State Archives . From 1982 to 1997 he headed the Bamberg State Archives . From 1982 to 1989 he had a teaching position for archival studies at the University of Bamberg . Since 1989 he has been an honorary professor for medieval history and historical auxiliary sciences in Bamberg .

Machilek is a member of several scientific associations, including a of the Collegium Carolinum , the Historical Commission for Silesia , the Historical Commission for the Bohemian Lands and the Historical Commission at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences .
