Per Axel Gunnar Balkåsen (born March 20, 1955 ) is a former Swedish ski jumper .
Career
In 1979 Balkåsen was part of the Swedish national team for the newly created ski jumping World Cup . He jumped his first World Cup on December 30, 1979 in Oberstdorf . In the first competition after the Four Hills Tournament in 1979/80 , in which he only landed in the back place without luck, he managed to win the first World Cup points of his career in Thunder Bay with 13th place. Also in the French Saint-Nizier he could repeat this success, reaching number 9 in the second event, the best result of his career. At the end of the 1979/80 World Cup season , he was 57th in the overall World Cup ranking. After he could not repeat the success in either the 1980/81 season or the 1981/82 season, Balkåsen completed his last World Cup competition on January 6, 1982 in Bischofshofen . After this end of his career in the World Cup, however, he still competed at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1982 and reached 25th place on the large hill and 44th place on the normal hill. Since the end of his career he has worked as a race director at jumping, among other things in the context of the FIS Cup .
Per Balkåsen is the father of Fredrik Balkåsen .
