Per Knut Aaland (born September 5, 1954 in Innvik , Stryn ) is a former Norwegian cross-country skier .

Aaland has specialized in endurance racing in his active career. He made his international debut at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 1974 in Autrans, France . At the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck , Austria, he finished sixth in the 50 km race. The breakthrough came in 1977 when he won the 50 km title at the national championships and was named the best participant of the entire event. Over 30 km he entered 1980 at the Olympic Winter Games in Lake Placid , USA, and reached 16th place. Together with Lars Erik Eriksen , Ove Aunli and Oddvar Brå , he won the silver medal in the relay competition over 4 × 10 km. In 1983 and 1987 he was able to achieve second place in world cup races over 50 km a total of three times.

After Aaland ended his active career in 1987, he was employed as a wax technician in Norwegian ski teams during the 1990s and then also participated in the development and production of ski wax. Aaland is a trained carpenter .
