Percival Kinnear Wise (born April 17, 1885 in Hong Kong , † June 7, 1968 in Aldeburgh ) was a British polo player and officer .

successes

Wise was born in Hong Kong, where his father was a Supreme Court Justice. At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924 Percival Wise was part of the British polo team , which also consisted of Frederick W. Barrett , Denis Bingham and Freddie Guest . The British defeated Spain and France, but fell short of Argentina and the United States, so they finished the competition in third place and won the bronze medal.

In 1903, Wise, who made a career in the military, was assigned to the Seaforth Highlanders . He was then transferred to the Wiltshire Regiment and then transferred to the 33rd Queen Victoria's Own Light Cavalry of the British-Indian Army . Eventually he joined the Royal Flying Corps . For his services in World War I , Wise was awarded the Distinguished Service Order and was named Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George . He rose first to Wing Commander and then to Group Captain in the Royal Air Force . He also served in World War II .
