The pearl is a 1.4 kilometer long right tributary of the Stepenitz . It extends to the north of the city of Perleberg in the Brandenburg district of Prignitz .

The brook rises northwest of Perleberg's Perlhof. It is fed by seepage water from the nearby vineyard . Depending on the weather, the narrow headwaters have a swampy character, but can also dry out.

The pearl flows in a south-southeast direction and passes the Perlhof. Under a bridge it crosses the embankment of the dismantled Perleberg Nord – Groß Buchholz railway line . The pearl turns in a gentle arc between Weinberg in the north and Galgenberg in the south, flowing more towards the east. The Perletal is used as grazing land on this section . It is part of the nature reserve Osergebiet near Perleberg .

The pearl is now leading under the Reetzer road through and divides the Kleingartenanlage pearl reason . After a final crossing under the street, the stream flows into the mill arm of the Stepenitz at the Perleberger Neue Mühle .
