Passover Grupper ( Hebrew פסח גרופר; * August 21, 1924 in Jaffa ; † April 29, 2013 in Atlit ) was an Israeli politician.

Life

Passover Grupper was born in Jaffa in 1924. In 1936 he moved with his family to Atlit, where he would spend the rest of his life. He was Mayor of Atlit from 1959 to 1962 and again from 1969 to 1971.

As a member of the Likud , he was Minister of Agriculture from October 10, 1983 to September 13, 1984. In March 1990, Grupper and four other members of parliament left the Likud and founded the Miflaga Libralit Chadascha party , which, however, failed in the 1992 elections due to the threshold clause.

After completing his parliamentary work, Pessach Grupper was elected President of the Farmers' Union. For seventeen years - until 2003 - he was also chairman of the Israeli winemakers' association. In the words of his fellow party member Reuven Rivlin , Grupper was one of the “best agriculture ministers in the history of the Land of Israel”.
