Peter Constantine Brown (born December 25, 1940 in Ashtead , Surrey ) is a British poet and songwriter who has also emerged as a singer. He wrote the lyrics to the Cream classics "I Feel Free", "SWLABR", " White Room " and "Sunshine of Your Love".

biography

Brown published his first poem at the age of 14; later he was a member of the Liverpool poetry scene , gave poetry readings in beatnik clubs and campaigned for jazz and poetry programs. Together with John McLaughlin , bassist Binky McKenzie, drummer Laurie Allan and percussionist Pete Bailey he founded the First Real Poetry Band . Together with Jack Bruce he has written a number of songs that became known in particular through Cream. He founded The Battered Ornaments with Chris Spedding , Butch Potter (b), George Khan (sax), Pete Bailey (b), Charlie Hart (key) and Jamie Muir (perc) .

He also worked with Graham Bond and wrote lyrics for Colosseum before starting his own group Pete Brown & Piblokto! molded with Jim Mullen . After his jazz and lyric record The Not Forgotten Association and his “My Last Band” with guest appearances by Spedding and Dick Heckstall-Smith , he retired from the rock scene as a performer in 1977 . In 1993 he took part in Jack Bruce's comeback album and realized new in-house productions with keyboardist Phil Ryan. Brown also worked as a writer for the film. In 2004 he founded the film production company Brown Waters , together with Mark AJ Waters and Miran Hawke .

In 2012/13 he was a special guest at several concerts by the Hamburg Blues Band on their anniversary tour . He then joined Clem Clempson .
