Peter Van Nostrand

Peter "Pete" Van Nostrand (* around 1980 in Binghamton ) is an American modern jazz musician ( drums ) .

Van Nostrand studied at Rutgers University and The Juilliard School ; from 2000 he worked in the New York jazz scene with musicians such as Steve Davis , Jeremy Pelt , Eric Reed , Aaron Parks , Gerald Clayton , Chihiro Yamanaka , Dan Nimmer , Jeb Patton , Jim Rotondi , Mike LeDonne , Paula West , Sachal Vasandani . In the 2010s he continued to play with Kenny Barron , Brian Lynch , Jimmy Heath , Kurt Elling , The Clayton Brothers and Natalie Cole ; he also went on tours with Aaron Diehl and Cécile McLorin Salvant . It currently also belongs to the JC Stylles Quintet feat. Steve Nelson . In the field of jazz he was involved in 19 recording sessions between 2005 and 2017, among others with the saxophonist Sam Taylor and on the soundtrack of the film Chico & Rita .
