Dan Nimmer (born June 11, 1982 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin ) is an American jazz musician ( piano , composition ) of modern jazz .

Live and act

Never began to play the piano autodidactically after his family bought him an instrument. He then received a classical education and at the age of 15 attended the Milwaukee Conservatory of Music, where he studied jazz. With his parents he also visited local jazz clubs , where he also met numerous musicians. His mentor was the saxophonist Berkley Fudge. After graduating from high school, he studied music at Northern Illinois University ; he also played in Chicago clubs. Soon he belonged to the band of Fareed Haque , with whom he went on tour. The first recordings were made in 2002 with the Sam Burckhardt Trio. In early 2004 he moved to New York City; there he began the following year to work with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra .

In addition, Nimmer u. a. with Curtis Fuller , Benny Golson , Larry Ridley , Ed Thigpen , Frank Wess , Clark Terry , Kenny Washington , Paquito D'Rivera , Joe Chambers , Wess Anderson , Kurt Elling , Eric Alexander , Carl Allen , Lyle Lovett , Wynonna Judd , Tom Jones , James Moody , Kathleen Battle, and the Blind Boys of Alabama . He also presented a number of trio albums under his own name. In the field of jazz, according to Tom Lord , he was involved in 46 recording sessions between 2002 and 2019, apart from the aforementioned with Kengo Nakamura , Whitney Marchelle , Joe Temperley , Marcus Printup , Ted Nash , Adrian Cunningham and Elliot Mason .
