Peter-Wolf Ascher

Peter-Wolf Ascher (born February 12, 1939 in Munich ) is an Austrian neurosurgeon .

Life

Ascher's parents are the geodesist Walter Ascher and his wife, the pharmacist Trude Ascher b. Cordik . He was baptized a Roman Catholic but later left the Church. It was 1957 in Salzburg the Matura and started in the same year to study medicine at the University of Graz . This he completed in 1965 with the promotion of Dr. med. from. From 1966 he worked at the University Clinic for Neurosurgery and was trained as a specialist in general surgery in 1972 . He then worked as an assistant in the neurosurgical department of the LKH University Hospital Graz until 1977 . He completed his habilitation in neurosurgery in 1978 and taught as a private lecturer until 1983 . Then he was appointed associate professor . In 1989/1990 he was the first senior physician in Graz neurosurgery.

The University of Rostock appointed him in 1995 as professor and head of the neurosurgery department at the Rostock University Hospital . As a long-time drum doctor he became a corps bow bearer of the Visigothia . Despite pulmonary problems, he fought a regular scale on the colors of the corps of his own free will . Retired since 2002 , he lives in Salzburg .
