Peter Bäuerle

Peter Bäuerle (born April 3, 1956 in Grötzingen , Esslingen district ) is a German chemist .

Life

Bäuerle studied in Stuttgart Chemistry , 1982 made Franz Effenberger his diploma and in 1985 at the University of Stuttgart also with Franz Effenberger doctorate . He then was a post-doctoral student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, USA, with MS Wrighton. He completed his habilitation in 1994 at the University of Stuttgart . In 1994 he became a professor at the University of Würzburg . In 1996 he went to Ulm University , where he is director at the Institute for Organic Chemistry II and New Materials.

Act

Bäuerle's main research areas are preparative organic and supramolecular chemistry of heterocycles and aromatics , as well as organic materials. The synthesis and characterization of conductive and semiconducting oligo- and polythiophenes and their application in organic electronics play a central role. He has currently published more than 290 refereed original publications, eight book articles, and seven patents.

Bäuerle is a co-founder of the Heliatek GmbH factory (Dresden and Ulm), which deals with the development and production of organic solar cells. From 2009 to 2012 he was Vice President for Research at Ulm University and has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Ulm University Hospital since 2011.
