Peter Balazs

Peter Balazs (born December 11, 1970 in Tulln an der Donau ) is an Austrian mathematician at the Institute for Sound Research Vienna of the Austrian Academy of Sciences .

Life

He completed his studies at the University of Vienna in 2001 with a thesis on the subject of polynomials on groups with distinction. In June 2005 he did his doctorate on Regular and Irregular Gabor Multiplier with Application to Psychoacoustic Masking at the Numerical Harmonic Analysis Group, Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Vienna (NuHAG). This cooperation gave him the opportunity by means of the Harmonic Analysis and Statistics for Signal and Image Processing EU Network (HASSIP) at the Laboratoire d'Analyse, Topologie , Probabilités (LATP), CMI and LMA, Center national de la recherche scientifique Marseille from November 2003 to study until April 2004 and in August 2005 at FYMA, UCL in Louvain-La-Neuve .

Peter Balazs has worked at the institute since 1999 and has been head of the mathematics and signal processing in acoustics working group since 2008 . In 2011, Balazs completed his habilitation in mathematics at the University of Vienna. Since 2012 he has been director of the Institute for Sound Research .
