Peter Baldinger (born November 30, 1958 in Linz ) is an Austrian visual artist .

Life

Baldinger had worked as a daily newspaper journalist and finally as a court reporter in Salzburg and Vienna since 1981. In addition, from 1985 he made illustrations for daily newspapers and magazines. After moving to Vienna in 1988, he began to focus on drawing and illustration.

As a result, from 1989 onwards he created weekly illustrations for the color magazine of the daily newspaper Kurier . He also illustrated the book Encounters by Gregor von Rezzori , which was published in 1991 by Jugend & Volk . In the same year he ended active journalistic activity without renouncing the lasting importance of it for his work. A work stay in Budapest follows .

In 1993 he took part in a graphics workshop at the International Summer Academy for Fine Arts Salzburg with Konrad Winter , and the following year he worked in Maine, USA. 1995 first installation ornamental fish & small fish at the festival of the regions in Unterach am Attersee with Miki Kap-Herr. Subsequent intervention footnotes to the UNESCO World Heritage Festival of the City of Salzburg .

After a working stay at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts in Mount St. Angelo, Virginia, USA, followed in 1997 the first exhibition in the USA, unidentified in the Austrian Embassy in Washington, DC 1998–1999 he creates together with Konrad Winter in the artistic Design of the Bahnhofplatz underground car park in Salzburg, a first, highly regarded work in public space.

With the Where we are cycle for the school center in Mattighofen , Upper Austria , he created another large room design in 2004. In 2010, he obtained for the artistic design of the by Klaus-Jürgen Bauer planned Café Maskaron in the Esterhazy Palace in Eisenstadt the Architecture Prize of Burgenland in 2010 .

In addition to his free artistic work, Baldinger developed the new corporate design for the Belvedere in Vienna , which has been headed by director Agnes Husslein-Arco since then, and has since been responsible for the design of the museum's entire public image and publications.

In November 2011 Baldinger created the Intervention History Steps in the Presidential Office, Hofburg , Vienna

In 2012 there was an artistic intervention BeethovenBeet with around 20,000 living flowers (violas) in the baroque garden of the Belvedere , Vienna

In 2012/13 the installation latest freeware required, a “contemporary” baroque sky in the Lower Belvedere, Belvedere, Vienna, will be created for the exhibition Barock since 1630

In 2013 Baldinger created the first contemporary Lenten veil for St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna .
