The "Camouflaged Pictures" are modern genre and landscape paintings , and they make up the most important part of the oeuvre of the painter Konrad Winter. In his best-known group of works, he works with car paint on aluminum , and the works are usually large-format and brightly colored. If the viewer stands directly in front of the work, he can only see clearly delineated areas of color. The content of the picture is only revealed at a distance. The images from close up also always appear blurred or blurry, as if viewed through glasses with the wrong dioptric strength.

The most important work cycles of the "Camouflaged Pictures" are:

  • Camouflaged landscape: beaches and cities, villages and public parks, rural idylls or a fish pond represent the content of this work cycle. People rest in the light of the sun under lush green trees or on yellow, sun-drenched sandy beaches. Children playing on the beach.
  • Camouflaged Interior shows the interior of hotels, airplanes and inns. Sometimes the lobby of a luxury hotel can be seen, sometimes the work reveals a view of a hotel bed or the cabin of an Airbus A 380 can be seen.
  • Camouflaged Alps is the counterpart to "Camouflaged Landscapes". Konrad Winter themed the architecture, flora and fauna of the mountains. Mountain ridges bathed in the red light of a setting sun - skiers whiz down a blue and white slope. Sometimes cows can be seen in front of a farmhouse, then marmots greet each other or a deer with large antlers roars.
  • Camouflaged Cities: The glass pyramid of the Louvre in Paris, the house fronts of the Roman in Frankfurt or a city view of Munich with the characteristic towers of the Frauenkirche. In the group of works Camouflaged Cities, Winter concentrated on specific sights and cityscapes that are significant for a particular metropolis.
  • Camouflaged Prosperity: The group of works addresses the contrast between rich and poor, between consumption and poverty. You can see homeless people sleeping on a park bench in the middle of their belongings, the lights of a shop window, the hustle and bustle inside a shopping center or mannequins.

The older groups of works "Abendgesellschafter", "Kopfstück" and "Deutsche Aktien" belong to the genre of portrait painting . These groups of works were created before the “Camouflaged Landscapes”.

  • Evening companions: Actors, moderators and historical personalities are the "evening companions" shown. Konrad Winter's works have a high recognition value , although he abstracted the people and reduced them to the outlines. Plywood panels and acrylic were used as material. The outlines are carved into the painting ground in relief and then colored in a darker shade of the same color as the background.
  • The headjoints: It is a variation of the series "Abendgesellschafter". The subject of the picture is identical, but the material differs from the original series. Mostly commissioned works are the "head pieces" wall paintings or glass installations, such as the glass tableaus "head pieces" in the Sparkasse Fulda from 2001.
  • German stocks: These are portraits of internationally known personalities from television, cinema or sports and people from the African continent. Winter stamped the company logos of listed German companies on small plain-colored fields and composed portraits from these pixels. The "Deutsche Aktien" are stamp prints in oil on wood or canvas.
