Peter Behrens (lawyer)

Peter Behrens (born December 18, 1939 in Lüneburg ) is a German lawyer and university professor .

Life

He studied in Hamburg, Lausanne , Freiburg im Breisgau , Berlin and New York (1st and 2nd state exams in Hamburg ). After receiving his doctorate in Hamburg in 1969 and a Master of Comparative Jurisprudence (MCJ) in 1970 at New York University , he was a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg from 1970 to 1984 . In 1983 he taught as a visiting professor at the University of Chicago Law School . After completing his habilitation in Hamburg in 1984, he taught as a professor at the University of Hamburg from 1984 to 2005 . In 1986 and 1987 he was visiting professor at the University of Michigan Law School (Ann Arbor). In 1989 he was director at the Institute for Integration Research of the Europa-Kolleg Foundation in Hamburg. In 1997 he was a scientific member of the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin .
