Peter Bergen
Peter L. Bergen (born December 12, 1962 in Minneapolis ) is a British - American journalist .
Bergen works as a terrorism expert at CNN . In 1997 he was one of the first western journalists to interview Osama bin Laden . In 2001 he wrote Holy War Inc. , in 2006 The Osama bin Laden I Know: An Oral History of al Qaeda's Leader , in which he lets bin Laden's friends tell about him.
He is also a regular at Vanity Fair and The New Republic .

Peter Bergen was born in Minneapolis and grew up in London . In 1984 he received at the University of Oxford the MA in Modern History .
Career
In his journalistic life, Bergen worked first for the American broadcaster ABC , then for CNN .
In August 2006, Bergens published an article on CNN about the CIA - bin Laden connection.
From 2003 to 2007 Bergen was an adjunct professor at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University ; In 2008 he was a lecturer at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government .
Today, Bergen directs the New America Foundation's National Security Research Program at the think tank . He is also a fellow at the New York University School of Law's Center on Law and Security .
Prizes and awards
He has received numerous awards for his journalistic work, including the Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio-Television Digital News Association in 1994.
