Peter Cestonaro (born May 14, 1954 in Haiger-Langenaubach ) is a German soccer coach and former soccer player .

His great-grandfather came to Germany from northern Italy at the end of the 19th century . Cestonaro grew up in Haiger-Langenaubach in central Hesse , where he began his career at the local club SSV Langenaubach .

In 1972 he moved to Bundesliga club MSV Duisburg , where he could not assert himself. There he only came to one assignment in the Bundesliga. After briefly returning to his homeland, the second division club SV Darmstadt 98 noticed him, with whom he was promoted to the Bundesliga twice, in 1978 and 1981 . For Darmstadt he played a total of 203 games in which he scored 97 goals. To this day he is the record scorer of the lilies. After the second relegation, he went to KSV Hessen Kassel in 1983 , with whom he narrowly missed the leap into the Bundesliga several times. With his 111 goals in 245 second division games, he was tenth on the all-time goalscorer list of the 2nd Bundesliga before the 2013/14 season.

After 1986 he let his career end with Eintracht Haiger in the Oberliga Hessen , first as a player-coach, later as a coach. His greatest success during this time was the runner-up in the Oberliga Hessen in the 1986/87 season. In the finals of the German amateur championship in 1987, Eintracht Haiger was defeated by MSV Duisburg. He then led the state division club FC 80 Herborn into the Oberliga Hessen and then looked after as a coach and a. the upper division soccer clubs VfL Hamm / Sieg , SG 06 Betzdorf and VfB Marburg .

Until the beginning of April 2008 he was a coach at Eintracht Wetzlar , which he led into the top division. After nine games without a win and his announcement that he was looking for a new field of activity at the end of the season, he was finally fired.

From April 15, 2009 to the end of June 2013, Cestonaro trained the upper division TuS Erndtebrück .

From July 1, 2013, Cestonaro coached TSV Steinbach . He signed a contract there until June 30, 2016. With TSV, he rose in May 2015 to the Regionalliga Süd-West . The association released him from his duties on October 22nd, 2015.
