Peter Dellemann

Peter Dellemann (born August 2, 1937 ; † April 22, 2018 ) was a German architect and urban planner .

Life

Born just two years before the start of the Second World War , Peter Dellemann was born as the son of the architect and painter Otto Dellemann . He worked in the post-war period and especially in the 1960s and 1970s as an architect and urban planner in Hanover . During this time, he formed “a strong alliance at the top of the city” to shape the Lower Saxony state capital together with city director Martin Neuffer , building officer Rudolf Hillebrecht and city planner Hanns Adrian .

In 1980 Dellemann published together with Martin Blumenbach and Günther Kokkelink on the history and architecture of Bauhütte Hanover published by Bauhütte zum Weißen Blatt .

At the end of the 20th century, Dellemann acted as senior building director, particularly for the Kronsberg district, which was newly built in the run-up to the Expo 2000 world exhibition . He gave a lecture on this as a "prime example of a U-turn in urban development" and stated in May 1997 at the 2nd International Frankfurt Urban Development Discourse :

"American urban development has wasted resources, landscape, and energy, making this rich country the most indebted in the world."

Dellemann was involved for many years as a member and on the board of the Kunstverein Hannover

Peter Dellemann was buried in the Engesohde city cemetery .
