Peter Elstner
Peter Elstner (born April 12, 1940 in Vienna ; † June 20, 2021 there ) was an Austrian sports editor for Austrian Broadcasting Corporation .
Life
Peter Elstner attended the school together with Heinz Prüller . At the age of 22 he started working for the daily Express . In the 1970s he began at ORF, 1980, he took over the management of ORF broadcast football . It was broadcast on Saturday evening from 6:25 p.m. on FS2 (ORF2). Elstner then worked as a freelance journalist. The enthusiastic musician, who also studied singing, worked as a commentator from 1975 and was part of the ORF sports editorial team from 1978 . In his long career, he has accompanied many football world and European championships . He was also a reporter for ski jumping at the Olympic Gamesused. He retired in 2001 and made a comeback on ATV in 2004 . Until 2018, Elstner was a media trainer at SK Rapid Vienna .
Peter Elstner presented many major events as a commentator. Less known are his appearances as a musician and in various ORF broadcasts ( Tohuwabohu ). Until his death, the former Rapid media coach was responsible for casting the musicians together with his friend Sigi Bergmann on the board of trustees of the St. Margarethen Opera Festival .
In 2001 a video film designed by Peter Elstner was published and in the publication of the ÖFB 100 Years of Football in Austria , the student league is taken into account in a detailed article.
In autumn 2019 Elstner presented his book Pepi, lass mi eine , in memory of the scenes that played out after Austria's 3-0 triumph in the decisive World Cup qualifier against the GDR on November 15, 1989. At that time, all ÖFB managers, including team boss Josef Hickersberger, did not let Peter Elstner, who was broadcast live, enter the cabin.
At the age of 81, Peter Elstner had a fatal accident in June 2021 after jumping from a bathing platform in the New Danube .
Private
Elstner was in a relationship with the Austrian TV and radio presenter Barbara Stöckl for over 10 years (1998–2008) .
