Peter Escher (born June 28, 1954 in Weißwasser ) is a German television and radio presenter and journalist .

Life

From 1976 Escher worked as an editor and news anchor for radio in the GDR . In 1986 he ended this activity and worked from then on in the East Berlin artist club Möwe and as manager of several jazz bands and cabaret artists . Nevertheless, he returned to radio and became a freelance worker at DT64 , the GDR youth radio station. Escher fled to the Federal Republic of Germany in 1989. He then carried out various editorial activities at Radio Charivari and creatv, a television production company in Hürth near Cologne that also produced for RTL. Among other things, Escher was the editor of the talk show Hans Meiser . From 1995 to 2013 he moderated the advice program Escher - Der MDR-Ratgeber (formerly A Case for Escher ) on MDR television , which creatv produced for the longest time very successfully and with extraordinary ratings. From 1996 to 2004 Escher was a presenter at MDR 1 Radio Sachsen . The Peter Escher Foundation was established in 2002, the aim of which is to promote research and treatment in the field of pediatric cancer medicine . In the television program Die Spur der Täter , which has been broadcast on MDR since 2007 , Escher accompanies criminal police officers during the investigation and is also involved in the search for clues. In 2008 his autobiography A Fall for Me was published . Escher has been moderating the TV series My Second Chance since April 2014 .

From November 2015 Escher was active with an online advisor in cooperation with the lawyer Frank Hannig against doctor botch, arbitrariness with the authorities, neighborhood disputes or rip-offs on the Internet. In August 2016, the company Escher Hilft GmbH founded for this purpose filed for insolvency . There was a legal dispute between the former partners, in the course of which Escher was awarded the rights to use his Facebook page in an initial judgment. This had meanwhile been renamed by his former partner.

Since July 1, 2017, Escher has been offering advice and legal support together with an advice and comparison portal.

With his work, Escher supports the search for victims of forced adoption in the GDR. In April 2018, Escher helped the adopted child Ronny Wendschuh to find his mother again after 38 years. Wendschuh, originally Robert Albrecht, had been given up for adoption under pressure from the GDR authorities, but had not found out about it until his 25th birthday. The consumer journalist Peter Escher has been involved in the accident assistance “ProClienta360Grad” since December 1st, 2018. The company takes care of people who have problems after traffic, work or sports accidents through no fault of their own, or who have even been thrown out of their lives. “My new challenge makes sense and, on top of that, a lot of fun,” said Escher in an interview with the Leipziger Rundschau on December 19, 2018. “Helping people in emergency situations to help them get their rights has been and is mine for more than 25 years Vocation."
