Peter Fehse (born May 18, 1983 in Halle ) is a former German basketball player.
career
Fehse comes from the youth department of SV Halle . He played for the men's team of the club in the 2nd basketball division and became known when the Seattle SuperSonics of the American NBA voted him 48th in the second round of the draft in 2002 . Fehse could not fight for a place in the team of the Sonics . Even before the NBA selection process, Fehse had signed a contract with the top Italian club Benetton Treviso . However, he had to do his military service in Germany and therefore could not move to Italy. He was then awarded to the Bundesliga club Opel Skyliners . Ankle injuries, illnesses and obligations in the German Armed Forces afflicted Fehse, who only made a brief assignment in the ULEB Cup for the Skyliners in the 2002/03 season and played eight games for the team of cooperation partner Eintracht Frankfurt in the second division.
The contract with Treviso was terminated, and Fehse moved to Mitteldeutscher BC in the summer of 2003 and won the European Cup FIBA EuroCup Challenge with the club in the 2003/04 season . But neither with MBC nor with the New York Phantoms Braunschweig , for whom he played from the 2004/05 season, Fehse was able to prevail decisively in the Bundesliga. His statistically best Bundesliga season was the 2005/06 season, when he played 21 matches for the Braunschweig team and recorded an average of 5.5 points and 2.9 rebounds with an average playing time of 13:12 minutes per game. Due to an Achilles tendon injury that required surgery in January 2008, Fehse did not play any games between May 2007 and January 2009. For SG Braunschweig , the youth team of the Lower Saxony Bundesliga club, he started again in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB at the beginning of 2009 .
In the summer of 2009 Fehse moved back to the Saale to the Central German Basketball Club , with which he won the FIBA EuroCup Challenge in 2004. His problems with the Achilles tendon prevented him from playing in the Bundesliga and in January 2010 he was awarded to the BSW Sixers until the end of the season in order to get match practice in the regional league. Fehse also looked after the MBC NBBL team as an assistant coach and was the head coach of the U16 team of the "Wolves" in the JBBL in the 2014/15 season .
