Peter Fey

Peter Fey (born May 3, 1928 in Jauer ; † January 2, 2015 in Chemnitz ) was a German professor of information technology .

Life

After graduating from high school in Pößneck in 1946 and subsequent training as a radio mechanic in Weimar , Peter Fey studied electrical engineering at the Dresden Technical University from 1950 . After completing his studies, he worked from 1955 as an assistant at the local institute for high frequency technology.

He received his doctorate in 1961 on the subject of a contribution to the theory of communications transmission taking into account nonlinearities . From 1963 he was director of the research institute for communications engineering INT in Berlin. In 1967 Peter Fey was appointed part-time professor and in 1969 full professor for high-frequency technology and pulse technology at the Karl-Marx-Stadt University of Technology .

In 1972 he completed his habilitation at the TU Dresden with the topic of contributions to the theory of information technology and its applications . In 1980 he received the Patriotic Order of Merit .

Fey was the first dean of the newly founded Faculty of Electrical Engineering (EIW) at the TH Karl-Marx-Stadt from 1972 to 1981. From 1982 to 1987 he was director of the information technology section.

Peter Fey lived in Chemnitz .
