from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Peter Fischer (born March 14, 1956 in Lich ) is a German sports official and entrepreneur . Since August 2000 he has been President of Eintracht Frankfurt .

Career

Fischer has been an advertising salesman since 1975 and has been an entrepreneur in various fields since 1979 . In addition to an advertising agency, he was or is the owner of two fashion boutiques , several clubs in Germany and abroad, a book author and worked as a management consultant.

Since August 2000, Fischer has been president of the Eintracht Frankfurt association and in his position a member of the supervisory board and, since 2005, deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG.

In an interview with the FAZ at the end of December 2017, he said that according to the association's statutes, no one could be a member who chose the Alternative for Germany (AfD), as there were racist or inhuman tendencies in it. After further interviews and statements related to the AfD, the state spokesmen of the AfD Hessen , Klaus Herrmann and Robert Lambrou, filed criminal charges against Fischer for insulting , defamation and defamation , since nobody should be favored or disadvantaged because of their political views (GG, Art. 3 , 3), which is particularly true for non-political areas of life such as sport. The prosecution dismissed the lawsuit on the grounds of freedom of expression. He describes himself as polarizing. Fischer said he was "a person who comes from communication, loves dialogue and a culture of debate". However, there must be clear exclusion and he does not want to talk to the right wing because he has learned that in this case "discussion and dialogue have zero point zero chances". The fact that he disagrees makes him an enemy. The idea of a conversation based on the exchange of rational arguments, even of being able to convince, is an illusion.

At the annual general meeting in January 2018, Fischer was confirmed in office for another four years with over 99% of the 648 votes.

As part of the Europa League game against Shakhtar Donetsk on February 21, 2019 , there was a police operation in the interior of the stadium after the Hessian Interior Minister Fischer's statement, “You should break because you have so much light and the game is for you becomes a little foggy ”, interpreted as a hint that the law on explosives should be violated, for example when igniting pyrotechnics . The media also criticized the fact that the club already played under certain conditions at UEFA and that other clubs had a zero-tolerance policy in closed stadiums because of frequent violations.

Private

Fischer is divorced and has two sons. In December 2004 he survived the tsunami in the Indian Ocean . Since then he has been committed to the survivors and victims in Ko Phuket .
