Word origin
The term rubble firs has its origin in a weather fir . This is said to have been so large "that you can see it from Dornbirn and from much further afield".
Alpine farming
Alpe Schuttannen served the knight Ulrich I von Ems as a maize as early as 1324 . The alpine lift takes place from the beginning to the middle of June and the alpine lift takes place at the end of September or beginning of October.
tourism
The Schuttannen was a popular destination for ski tourers as early as the 1920s. In 1953, the Hohenems ski club opened a drag lift on the Schwarzenberghang, and in 1973 a second drag lift with the Eulenwinkel mountain station was built by the Hohenems ski lift company. The Wendelinshütte adjacent to the valley station of the drag lift is looked after by the Hohenems Alpine Club. Due to the year-round accessibility, the Schuttannen are a popular hiking destination for excursions to the Karrenseilbahn , to the Hohe Kugel or the Ebnit .
Road link
The publicly drivable part of the Schuttannenstrasse ends at the Alpe Schuttannen and was paved throughout in 2015. Alpe Schuttannen is served by line 55a of the Landbus Unterland company.
